This 14-day safari covers the top destinations in Uganda, including gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest National Park, game drives in Murchison Falls National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Kidepo Valley National Park. Cultural visits to local villages and markets are also included.

Day 1 | Arrival in Entebbe

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met and greeted by your guide, who will transfer you to your hotel in either Entebbe or Kampala. Take some time to relax and explore the local area, and get ready for your exciting Uganda adventure.

Day 2 | Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and Gulu

Starting the day early, you will leave your accommodation and begin the journey to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. On arrival, you will embark on a rhino tracking excursion, where you will get the opportunity to observe the endangered white rhinos in their natural habitat. After the activity, you will continue your journey to Gulu, where you will spend the night. Along the way, you will pass through some of Uganda’s beautiful countryside and witness the locals going about their daily lives. Upon arrival in Gulu, you can check-in to your accommodation, relax and enjoy the peacefulness of this charming town.

Day 3 | Kidepo Valley National Park

Leaving Gulu behind, you will start your journey to Kidepo Valley National Park. As you drive, enjoy the scenic beauty of the northern region. Upon arrival at Kidepo, you will proceed for an exciting game drive where you will explore the park’s diverse and rich wildlife. With luck, you might spot predators such as lions, leopards, hyenas, and cheetahs. The park is also home to the rare Kidepo savannah elephant and other herbivores like buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes. The game drive will offer you an opportunity to experience the park’s stunning landscapes and get an up-close encounter with nature.

Day 4 | Kidepo Valley National Park

You will spend the day immersing yourself in the local community and experiencing their way of life. This will include visiting a local village, interacting with the locals, and learning about their traditions and customs. You will also have the opportunity to participate in cultural activities such as dancing and storytelling. Later in the afternoon, you will embark on another game drive, exploring the vast and beautiful Kidepo Valley National Park. This game drive will offer you the chance to spot more of the park’s incredible wildlife, including lions, elephants, and zebras. This day will provide you with a unique and enriching cultural experience combined with the thrill of a safari adventure.

Day 5 | Murchison Falls National Park

As you depart from Kidepo Valley National Park, you will embark on a journey to Murchison Falls National Park. The drive will take you through some stunning landscapes and along the way, you will have the chance to stop and take photos of the beautiful scenery. Once you arrive at Murchison Falls National Park, you will embark on an exciting game drive to see some of the park’s abundant wildlife, including lions, elephants, and giraffes, among others. This is a great opportunity to get up close with the animals in their natural habitat and learn more about their behavior and habitats.

Day 6 | Murchison Falls National Park

Early in the morning, you will embark on a game drive within the Murchison Falls National Park to explore the wildlife and scenery of the park. During the game drive, you will have an opportunity to spot various animals such as lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and different bird species. Later on, you will take a boat cruise on the Nile River to the base of the falls. During the boat cruise, you will get up close with the aquatic life such as hippos, crocodiles and several bird species. The highlight of the boat cruise is the breathtaking view of the Murchison Falls as the Nile River forces itself through a narrow gorge.

Day 7 | Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, you’ll set off on a drive to Kibale Forest National Park, located in western Uganda. The drive will take you through some beautiful countryside, with rolling hills and small towns along the way. On arrival, you’ll check in at your lodge and have some time to relax before embarking on an afternoon nature walk through the park. Kibale Forest is known for its diverse array of primates, including chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, and red-tailed monkeys, as well as over 300 species of birds. You’ll have the opportunity to spot some of these animals and birds on your nature walk. Dinner will be served at the lodge.

Day 8 | Kibale Forest National Park

During your Best of Uganda Safari, you’ll have the opportunity to visit Kibale Forest National Park for an early morning chimpanzee trekking. After spending the night at the park, you’ll embark on the trek through the forest to observe these intelligent primates in their natural habitat. The early morning start will increase your chances of seeing the chimpanzees as they are most active during this time. You’ll be guided by an experienced ranger who will educate you on the chimpanzee behavior and habitat. This is a unique experience that offers an insight into the fascinating world of primates and the conservation efforts to protect them.

Day 9 | Queen Elizabeth National Park

You will depart from your current location and embark on a road trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Along the way, you will get to enjoy a game drive, giving you the opportunity to spot wildlife in their natural habitat. You can expect to see animals such as elephants, buffalos, antelopes, and warthogs. As you travel through the savannah plains, keep an eye out for predators like lions and leopards. The scenic drive to the park is an experience in itself, with breathtaking views of rolling hills and lush green vegetation. Sit back, relax, and take in the beauty of Uganda as you make your way to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 10 | Queen Elizabeth National Park

On this day, you will wake up early to embark on a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you will have the opportunity to see a variety of wildlife such as elephants, lions, buffaloes, warthogs, and several species of antelopes. After the game drive, you will head to the Kazinga Channel for a boat cruise. During the cruise, you will have a chance to see aquatic wildlife such as hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species, including the African fish eagle. The boat ride will also give you a chance to relax and enjoy the stunning scenery of the park.

Day 11 | Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

In the morning, you will visit a local village to experience the culture and traditions of the local people. You will interact with the locals, visit their homes, and learn about their daily routines. After the village visit, you will drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Along the way, you will have a chance to see the scenic views of the rolling hills, beautiful plantations, and vast savannah grasslands. Upon arrival at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you will check in at your lodge and relax for the evening. You can also opt for an evening walk or a cultural performance by the local community.

Day 12 | Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, head to the park headquarters to receive instructions and be divided into groups of 8 before embarking on a gorilla trekking experience. You will have the opportunity to witness the mountain gorillas feeding, playing, and engaging in their daily routines for up to an hour. The trek can take between 2 to 8 hours, depending on the location and movement of the gorillas, and requires long walks in steep, muddy conditions. Return to the lodge and in the evening, relax or visit the Batwa community to learn about their culture. Have dinner and spend the night at the lodge.

Day 13 | Lake Bunyonyi

After a long and exciting journey, Lake Bunyonyi offers a perfect place to relax and unwind. The lake is surrounded by beautiful hills and has numerous islands, making it a breathtaking sight. You can enjoy a swim in the cool and calm waters of the lake, take a boat ride to explore the various islands, or hike around the hills to enjoy the scenic views. For those who prefer a more laid-back activity, you can read a book while enjoying the fresh air or simply sit back and take in the serenity of the surroundings. The day is yours to enjoy at your leisure.

Day 14 | Departure

Depart from the “Switzerland of Uganda” after breakfast and begin your journey back to Kampala. You will pass through rolling hills with terraces and enjoy the lush vegetation. Make a stop in Mbarara for lunch and another stop at the Mbambire drum makers’ point to buy some drums. Continue your journey to Kampala and arrive in the late afternoon. The guide will drop you off at the hotel or airport for your flight back home.
