Accompanied by expert guides and naturalists, you'll have ample opportunities to spot an incredible array of bird species, including endemics, waterbirds, forest-dwellers, and migratory species. Whether you're a passionate birder or a wildlife enthusiast, Uganda's birdlife will captivate and inspire you throughout the journey.

Day 1 | Arrival in Entebbe

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by your guide who will transfer you to your accommodation in Entebbe or Kampala. You can rest and prepare for the exciting birding adventure ahead.

Day 2 | Mabamba Swamp

Your first destination is Mabamba Swamp, a renowned wetland on the shores of Lake Victoria. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to search for the elusive Shoebill Stork, one of the most sought-after bird species in Uganda. You’ll navigate the swamp by boat, accompanied by experienced guides who will help you spot various waterbirds and other wetland species.

Day 3 | Kibale Forest (Primate Trekking)

Journey to Kibale Forest, renowned for its primate diversity and impressive birdlife. On Day 7, the focus will be on primate trekking, particularly tracking chimpanzees. Venture into the forest with experienced guides, observing these fascinating primates in their natural habitat. While the primary focus is on primates, you will also have opportunities to spot a variety of bird species during the trek.

Day 4 | Kibale Forest (Birding)

Today is dedicated to birdwatching in Kibale Forest. Embark on guided walks through the forest, led by experienced birding guides. Explore different trails and habitats, keeping an eye out for Green-breasted Pitta, African Pitta, and a diverse range of forest-dependent bird species. Kibale Forest is a paradise for birdwatchers, offering numerous opportunities to spot unique and colorful avian species.

Day 5 | Queen Elizabeth National Park (Savannah Birds)

You’ll head to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which offers diverse habitats for birdwatching. Start with a morning game drive in the park’s savannah areas, where you can spot species such as African Fish Eagle, African Skimmer, and African Grey Hornbill. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, known for its birdlife, including waterbirds, raptors, and colorful kingfishers.

Day 6 | Queen Elizabeth National Park (Forest Birds)

You’ll be exploring Queen Elizabeth National Park’s forested areas. Embark on a guided birding walk in Maramagambo Forest, a habitat rich in forest-dependent bird species. Look out for African Green Broadbill, Ruwenzori Turaco, and various sunbirds. In the afternoon, visit the Ishasha sector, known for its tree-climbing lions and diverse birdlife.

Day 7 | Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (Birding)

Continue your birdwatching adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend the day exploring various trails with expert birding guides, searching for African Green Broadbill, Ruwenzori Batis, and other forest bird species. Bwindi is a birding paradise, offering incredible opportunities to spot a wide variety of avian species.

Day 8 | Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (Gorilla Trekking)

You have the option to participate in a gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Accompanied by experienced guides, venture into the forest in search of these remarkable primates. While gorilla trekking is the main focus of the day, keep your eyes and ears open for bird species that inhabit the forest as well. This day offers a unique combination of gorilla encounters and birdwatching opportunities.

Day 9 | Departure

After breakfast, you will check out from your lodge and begin the journey back to Entebbe. Along the way, you will have a chance to stop at the equator for a photo opportunity and some souvenir shopping. You will arrive in Entebbe in the late afternoon or early evening, depending on traffic and road conditions. Your guide will drop you off at the airport or your preferred accommodation in Entebbe or Kampala, marking the end of your memorable gorilla trekking and wildlife safari in Uganda.
